Voices of Aotearoa – Stimmen aus Neuseeland
Wie klingt der Pazifik? Eine Antwort gibt das Ensemble Voices New Zealand: Ihr aktuelles Programm verbindet nämlich klassische europäische Chorliteratur mit der neuseeländischen Heimat des Ensembles. Dafür haben die Musiker eigens den Māori Horomona Horo eingeladen. Er spielt eine Reihe von traditionellen Māori-Instrumenten und lässt altertümliche Klänge in das westliche Chor-Repertoire einfließen. Ein besonderes Highlight folgt im Finale: David Hamilton‘s Karakia of the Stars ist eine musikalische Hommage an den - aus dem Football berühmten - Māori-Kriegstanz »Haka«.
