For their concert at the Elbphilharmonie, cellist Natalie Clein and pianist Marianna Shirinyan have chosen rarely performed works from the 1910s and 1920s. Hamburg’s contemporary composition scene is also represented by a new work by Altuğ Ünlü.
The »Times« described British cellist Natalie Clein’s playing as »mesmerising and soaringly passionate«. She already achieved remarkable things early on in her career, having first attracted international attention when she won the »BBC Young Musician of the Year« competition in 1994 at the age of 16. Soon thereafter she also won the Eurovision Competition for Young Musicians in Warsaw.
Armenian–Danish pianist Marianna Shirinyan can look back at an equally successful start to her career: she won no less than five prizes at the prestigious »ARD International Music Competition« in 2006.
