On a sound voyage with the harp

On her latest album »Hotel Arkada«, the American harpist and songwriter Mary Lattimore explores transience: »When I think of these songs, I think of withering flowers in vases, melted candles – not realising how fleeting experiences are until they no longer happen. At the same time, ›Hotel Arkada‹ is an ode to art and music that’s really shaped my life and that can transport me back in time.«

The album was inspired by a charming, ageing hotel on the Croatian island of Hvar, which Mary Lattimore immediately fell in love with while on her travels. The fact that it was set to be renovated gave her inspiration for songs where the sound of a concert harp is mixed with atmospheric electro sounds. In soft timbres, she tells stories that dissolve space and time and take the audience on a voyage of inward thinking.
