Duett oder Duell?

»Cello Duello« is both the name and the programme, a musical contest that the two artists fight out on stage. »Cello Duello« - that sounds damn martial. But none of that. Although Jens Peter Maintz and Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt bring weighty ›weapons‹ and a virtuoso bow to the battle, they play more in cooperation than in opposition. Both parts are absolutely equal, the parts sometimes alternate in rapid tempo, an artistic all-round pleasure!« (Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung).

Jens Peter Maintz and Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt have been performing together on the world’s stages as »Cello Duello« for over 30 years and have been guests at all the major cello festivals: the Kronberg Festival, the Amsterdam Biennale, Musical Viva Moscow or the International Piatigorsky Cello Festival in Los Angeles. They have given concerts at the Konzerthaus Berlin and the Vienna Musikverein and present a varied, highly virtuosic firework of cellistic joy and sound art.
