Mostly Mozart

»A breathtakingly brilliant pianist,« enthused the British magazine Gramophone, while the New York Times called him »the Glenn Gould of Iceland«. His originality and power of musical conviction have made Víkingur Ólafsson one of today’s most sought-after artists in the space of just a few years.

The Icelander caused a sensation in the piano world with his 2016 debut album, devoted to the minimalist music of Philip Glass. He followed it up two years later with a Bach album whose unadorned clarity caused an entire country that thought it had invented Bach to prick up its ears. In his new recital programme, the sensitive pianist chooses Mozart as the centrepiece, surrounding him with Pre-Classical gems by Domenico Cimarosa, Baldassare Galuppi and Carl Philipp Emmanuel Bach.
