As a rule, gushing praise is never heard in public from the wonderful Portuguese pianist Maria João Pires. But she was forced to make an exception for her pupil Lilit Grigoryan: »Lilit possesses phenomenal power and decisiveness, coupled with a clear musical language.« And the young pianist of Armenian extraction has already accumulated quite a few such hymns of praise, as well as prizes at international competitions.

She regularly gives proof of her remarkable talent in a solo capacity. But in addition, the keen chamber musician has also found an ideal duo partner and kindred spirit in the Rumanian cellist Andrei Ioniţă. The whirlwind on four cello strings, who counts stars like Gidon Kremer und Valery Gergiev among his sponsors, actually managed to win the ultimate music contest in 2015 – the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow.

Now we have the chance to hear in what lofty spheres Andrei Ioniţă converses, has fun and even argues with Lilit Grigoryan – in the three epochal cello sonatas by Beethoven, Brahms and Debussy.
