Mozart composed his »Linz Symphony« at breakneck speed: he did not dedicate a whole week to the composition, instead merely »from Thursday to Tuesday«. Jeffrey Tate, one of the most highly regarded Mozart interpreters of our time, understands the genius that is Mozart particularly well. In this season, Tate continues his celebrated Mozart series.
In this series »Tate’s Mozart«, the musical director of the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra concentrates on the period 1780-90 – it was with his intimate Piano Concerto No. 11 (KV 387a) that Mozart began his happy Vienna years, and with No. 17 (KV 453), more reminiscent of chamber music, he later returned to a similarly intimate tone. On stage as soloist is French pianist Eric Le Sage.
