A concert that takes us on a journey through the centuries and around Europe: the violin sonata by Italian Baroque composer Corelli leads us to the Mediterranean, as does the virtuoso piece by Frenchman Saint-Saëns, where the influence of Spanish music can be clearly heard. Edvard Grieg’s sole piano concerto, on the other hand, forges a unique connection between his native Norwegian traditions and German Romanticism, while the Vaughan Williams romance breathes the spirit of the 20th century and Brahms’s popular B minor piano trio is congenially transferred into orchestra colours by arranger Ohad Ben-Ari.
