Schubert Forever

»A man who loves music can never be entirely unhappy,« Franz Schubert is supposed to have said. This special concert given by the Symphoniker Hamburg is devoted entirely to Schubert’s music, with extracts from the popular incidental music to the play »Rosamunde« as well as the orchestral version of his String Quintet in C major.  And as an interpreter of selected Schubert lieder, they couldn’t have found a better singer than Matthias Goerne. Superlatives are allowed in this case: the baritone makes brilliant appearances in opera houses all over the world, and is one of today’s foremost Schubert vocalists.
