Radiophonic Workshop

The avant-gardists with the longest tradition in the line-up of the »Electronauts« festival hail from London: the Radiophonic Workshop is actually celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. For 40 years, from 1958 to 1998, the band was a fixture at the BBC. Today’s Radiophonic Workshop appears in Hamburg as a sextet, bringing what is probably the wildest body of instruments with it that the Elbphilharmonie Recital Hall has ever seen: from granular synthesizers to the bass ukulele, from analogue oscillators to the Moog theremin, from synthesizers of every kind to the vocoder.
