Ludwig van Beethoven composed great music for wind instruments, achieving exceptional things in terms of tonal colours, dynamics, touch and technical challenges. He was still in his early twenties when he wrote his works for wind octet, and yet you can already see the future master at work.

A piece by Danish composer Svend Simon Schultz, who died in 1998, complements the Beethoven programme. Schultz was a choir conductor with the Danish State Radio Choir for 30 years. His Divertimento for Wind Octet is a homage to serenades and partitas from the classical era.
