In the USA Michael Feinstein is regarded as one of the leading guardians of the »Great American Songbook« tradition. He has been devoting his work to this impressive canon of American light music for some 30 years now. Feinstein focuses on music from the 1930s to the 1960s, on the world-famous show tunes written by Jerome Kern, Irving Berlin, Rodgers & Hammerstein, and George and Ira Gershwin.

Michael Feinstein began his career as a bar pianist before he became personal assistant to Ira Gershwin, thereby gaining access to the Broadway elite. Since then he has distinguished himself not only as a musical anthropologist, an archivist with his own foundation, collection and TV documentary series, but also as a music teacher and interpreter. His recordings as a singer and pianist have sold millions of copies, and have already brought him five Grammy nominations.

In addition to his velvety voice, his perfect arrangements and his qualities as an entertainer, Feinstein is also known for the emotional depth of his interpretations. Even though the songs he presents have been heard countless times before, Feinstein breathes new life into them every evening.
