Young star from the Baltic

Milda Daunoraite is one of Lithuania’s most promising young pianists. She has already made successful appearances in top European concert halls, and for her Hamburg recital she has chosen works by such different composers as Bach, Beethoven, Scriabin and Bartók.

Culinary offerings before the concert

Enjoy the concert with the young talents even more – after savouring some refreshments beforehand. Head to the Brahms Foyer from 15:00 to 15:45 for coffee, tea and cake. Please note that the way from the Recital Hall to the Brahms Foyer is not barrier-free and that the number of seats is limited.

Ms Daunoraite comes from an art-loving family. Her mother thought it was important for each of her children to pursue the type of work that really interested them. So her sister started by studying art and music, then decided to concentrate on art, and is now working as an architect. Milda chose music from the word go: at first, she didn’t even have a piano at home until her grandmother organised an instrument for her to play on.

The young pianist has already appeared at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, at London’s Wigmore Hall, at the Musikhuset Aarhus in Denmark and the United Nations headquarters in Geneva. In March 2018 she won first prize at the International Vladimir Krainev Young Pianist Competition in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv
