The Symphoniker Hamburg’s Martha Argerich Festival gets off to a blistering start! From artful stick dances to round dances by the girls in the spinning chamber – Bartók came across all kinds of treasures on his journeys collecting folk songs. Alongside these on the programme are an atmospheric selection of Mozart pieces, poetic works by Schubert »the prince of song«, and a good dose of the adorable in Schumann’s lively »Kinderszenen« (Scenes from Childhood).
