The family duo

Lionel Jérémie Martin and Demian Martin are brothers, and a superbly-rehearsed cello and piano duo. They come from the Stuttgart area and are appearing in Hamburg with music by Schubert and Shostakovich. The Martin brothers have been awarded several first prizes at the national music competition »Jugend musiziert«. Lionel Martin receives scholarships from the Jürgen Ponto Foundation and the Anne Sophie Mutter Foundation. In September 2017 he appeared together with the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra at the Schwetzingen Music Festival, and that same year he also performed at the Elbphilharmonie as the youngest of the 12 Cellists of the Musikleben Foundation.

Culinary offerings before the concert

Enjoy the concert with the young talents even more – after savouring some refreshments beforehand. Head to the Brahms Foyer from 15:00 to 15:45 for coffee, tea and cake. Please note that the way from the Recital Hall to the Brahms Foyer is not barrier-free and that the number of seats is limited.

His brother Demian Martin is currently studying the piano with Konrad Elser at the Lübeck College of Music, and has also benefited from the influence of well-known pianists like Konstantin Lifschitz und Kalle Randalu. Demian Martin studies improvisation and composition intensively, writes film music, and enjoys appearing as a concert presenter and piano cabaret artist.
