Experimental jazz harpist

The harpist Julie Campiche continuously reinvents her instrument. She has recently augmented her sound palette with electronic effects, creating a very personal language. In her quartet, which was formed in 2016, she brings together some of the most promising music talents of her generation. With a sophisticated blend of electronic effects and acoustic sounds, they create a melancholic and cinematic atmosphere in their music.

The quartet now presents their second album »You Matter« – emotional avant-garde jazz wrapped in the magical, unexpected and moving sound of the harp, which stands at the centre of the music. And they hope to convey an important message: »Everything that’s going on in the world right now, especially the climate crisis and its implications for humanity, can be overwhelming. It can make us forget that we really can play a vital role, that our actions really can change something. It’s important that we find a way back to ourselves and back to the conviction that we can have an impact in the world, that what we do counts,« explains Campiche.

Jazz at the Kulturcafé is a monthly event presenting the most promising upcoming artists in the jazz and singer-songwriter scene. It is the perfect experimental platform for musicians and bands from Hamburg and all over the country. The atmosphere is laid back – and admission is free!
