JazzNights: Youn Sun Nah

She scats and coos, shouts, whispers and hums: South Korean jazz lady Youn Sun Nah has been causing a stir on the international jazz scene for several years now. Her music makes its mark both through its simplicity and its vocal virtuosity. But it never declines into pretty sounds: this is an artist who wants to provoke. Sometimes she gets an accordion to accompany her, sometimes electronic sounds provide the backing. Or Youn Sun Nah just samples her own voice and accompanies herself. After her appearance at the Elbjazz Festival, this is Youn Sun Nah’s second concert in the Elbphilharmonie, this time with a full-length programme.
