The throat and overtone singing originating in Tuva in southern Siberia is one of the most fascinating vocal techniques in the world. The four-member ensemble Huun Huur Tu masterfully dominates the different varieties of this technique.

Huun Huur Tu’s performances include a range of traditional songs and melodies from all elements of Tuvan musical life. For Western ears, they sound fascinatingly exotic, simultaneously contemporary and familiar.

Contrary to tradition, the musicians do not perform individually, but as an ensemble, and accompany their own singing with the use of traditional musical instruments.
