Elbipolis Barockorchester Hamburg / »Le Style français«
Telemann Festival
The members of the Elbipolis Barockorchester Hamburg have a reputation as experts for music from the City of Hamburg. As self-deprecating local patriots, they dedicated one of their first CDs to the »Music by the Moneybags from Hamburg«. It goes without saying that the works of Georg Philipp Telemann are high up on their playlist. With its project for the Telemann Festival, the ensemble now casts a glance across the border to France.
In its concert programme, Elbipolis combines music by Telemann and by Michel-Richard Delalande. With its reconstruction of works by the French court composer Delalande (1657–1726), the Hamburg-based ensemble presents long-forgotten banqueting music written for »Sun King« Louis XIV. After the concert, the Hamburg Telemann Foundation will honour Georg Philipp Telemann with the unveiling of a bust of the composer in the Brahms Foyer at 18:00, to the accompaniment of music played by the Elbipolis Barockorchester Hamburg.
