Those who love the timbre of the classical period will get their full money’s worth with the young Chiaroscuro Quartet. Around ten years ago, the musicians, who hail from four different countries - Russia, Spain, France and Sweden - found their way together and have developed their own special musical language.

The secret of their special sound: they use gut strings on their instruments, a material that is hardly used anymore for the stringing of instruments since the Baroque period, despite producing a particularly full and differentiated sound.

For its concert in the series »Chamber Music«, the Chiaroscuro Quartet has invited pianist one of the shooting stars of the early music scene, Kristian Bezuidenhout, to Hamburg. Plenty of suspense-packed works by Mozart are on the programme, among them the early Divertimento KV 125b, and surreptitious piano concertos of Mozart’s Viennese chapter, such as his Piano Quartet KV 493 and Piano Quintet KV 385p. All of these compositions offer a pianist such as Bezuidenhout a very special platform to satisfy his virtuosity.
