As the son of Persian parents who grew up on the Rhine where the borders of Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein meet, a cosmopolitan attitude goes without saying for Kian Soltani. Whether he is playing the Persian kamancheh in his family ensemble or losing himself in the Romantic score of the Schumann Cello Concerto at the side of the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, his playing is always marked by the utmost musicality.  It is useful for his cooperation with the well-known Swiss orchestra that in the meantime he has a flat of his own in Zurich. He also curates a music series in his home region Vorarlberg: something he has in common with Paavo Järvi, who, in addition to his worldwide musical activities,  founded the Pärnu Music Festival ten years ago in his native Finland.
