Chief conductor Alan Gilbert has invited Augustin Hadelich to spend three seasons as associate artist of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra. Born to German parents in Italy, where he grew up, Hadelich went to New York to study at the famous Juilliard School, and was soon taking American concert audiences by storm. He is now in the process of establishing himself as a top-drawer artist in his native Europe. In addition to solo appearances with the orchestra – this season including the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, for example, - chamber music recitals also form part of his programme with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra. Hadelich brings his piano partner Charles Owen with him to his concert in the Elbphilharmonie Recital Hall; Owen also partners Julian Rachlin and Chloë Hanslip, and is a professor at London’s prestigious Guildhall School.
