The music world had to wait an age for an opera by György Kurtág, before he finally unveiled his first one at the age of 90. Now »Fin de partie«, based on a play by Samuel Beckett, is performed in Germany for the very first time. Bernd Alois Zimmermann’s monumental opera »Die Soldaten«, one of the most seminal dramatic works of the 20th century, also lies in store at the Elbphilharmonie. Mark Andre and Philippe Manoury have taken on Gustav Mahler’s unfinished »Symphony No. 10« and their additions are now being presented by Teodor Currentzis. Sofia Gubaidulina’s major work, her oratorio »Über Liebe und Hass«, makes for the crowning finale of this concert series.
