Elbphilharmonie Sessions: Pomme

The French chanson singer in the foyer of the Grand Hall.

The Elbphilharmonie welcomes Pomme, one of France’s hottest folk-pop stars. The young singer has been causing quite a stir in France and further afield with music inspired by her native country’s chanson tradition. Her trade mark is a distinctive, warm and clear voice. With personal lyrics, her songs speak to the heart as well as the ear.

In her »Elbphilharmonie Session«, Pomme sings her song »allô« in the foyer of the Grand Hall. There, where around 2,000 concertgoers flock towards the concert hall most evenings, she finds the perfect stage for her moving song about friendship.

Personal and political :Pomme writes chansons in tune with the times

Growing up in Lyon, Pomme – or Claire Pommet – began learning a number of instruments and sang in a children’s choir at an early age. It wasn’t long before she discovered the joys of American folk music. As a young teenager, she received great acclaim for her early performances, and a record contract soon followed.

When she was in her early 20s, her debut album reached the charts in France and several other European countries. No wonder: the young chanson singer’s folk-pop songs delight with catchy melodies and a direct musical language that explores vital political and personal themes. With her authentic approach, she strikes an important nerve for our times.

The song »allô« is taken from her third album »Consolation«, which she released in August 2022, shortly after being named Best Artist by the prestigious Victoires de la Musique awards.
