A world-famous opera singer is working on an album of lullabies – and suddenly discovers that she is pregnant. »Songs for Maya«, a collection that is dedicated to her daughter, is close to Olga Peretyatko’s heart. »It’s my call to the world – for freedom, for beauty, for love and for peace«.
In her programme, the soprano combines lullabies in various languages and from various cultures. »What we mothers sing to our children is essentially the same everywhere«, she says. In her »Songs for Maya« she celebrates this message of love that is inherent to every lullaby – across all borders.
The Artist
Olga Peretyatko is one of the great voices of our time. Not only is she a gifted lieder singer, she also has a loyal following among opera fans around the world. However, she doesn’t see herself exclusively as a vocal artist. She is a performer who is also open to provocative directing concepts, and who infuses her roles from the Italian, German, French and Russian repertoire with instinct and authenticity. Peretyatko has close ties with Hamburg – her career began in the Hamburg State Opera’s International Opera Studio in 2005.
She got to know the pianist Semjon Skigin while studying at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin. They have now been working together closely for many years and their lieder programmes are in great demand around the world.

The music
The lullaby is one of the oldest forms of music. Lullabies have been sung in every age and culture as a way of getting children to fall asleep – and as a way of relaxing yourself in quiet moments. On her album, Olga Peretyatko brings together lullabies in 19 languages, and she now presents a special selection from those, ranging from Brahms to Brazil, in the »Elbphilharmonie Session«.
The location
The Circle Lounge is located on the 13th floor of the Elbphilharmonie, on the northern side. The spacious sponsors’ lounge stretches over two levels, and has a large bar area with standing tables as well as a lounge area with a variety of seating options. The enormous window facade offers breath-taking views of Hamburg city centre, and an exclusive balcony in the bar area rounds off the experience.
