Elbphilharmonie Summer

Two weeks in the Grand Hall of the Elbphilharmonie with major symphony orchestras and a unique summer mix of jazz, pop and world music

Summer? Time for travelling! But it’s not just lakes, beaches and mountains that are calling – the Elbphilharmonie also attracts international stars to Hamburg for its overture to the new season. It’s worth swapping your deckchair for a seat in the Grand Hall to experience great orchestras, jazz, pop and world music!

Conductor Jakub Hrůša opens the summer together with young cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason and with a brilliant Czech programme, which also concludes Hrůša’s artist spotlight from the 2023/24 season. With international orchestras such as the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and the Orchestre Français des Jeunes, highly talented young musicians from across the world come together during the summer months to perform virtuoso programmes alongside greats such as pianist Elisabeth Leonskaja and conductor Ingo Metzmacher. The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and its conductor Manfred Honeck invite you to the final concert of the »Elbphilharmonie Summer« – and the perfect transition to the new season on the River Elbe.

In addition, non-classical concerts invite you on exciting musical excursions: drummer Makaya McCraven and saxophonist Kenny Garrett tranform the Grand Hall into an American jazz club on two evenings, flamenco legend Tomatito invites you to a Spanish fiesta, and Tinariwen, the »Rolling Stones of the Sahara«, bring hot Tuareg desert rock to Hamburg. Singer Cat Power travels back in time and reinterprets a legendary Bob Dylan concert with a very personal touch.
