In the best hands

A star, one of the world’s best orchestras, a symphonic masterpiece: when Klaus Mäkelä conducts the Vienna Philharmonic and Gustav Mahler’s Sixth Symphony is also on the programme, the concert can only be extraordinary. After all, at less than 30 years old, the young Finn already has an impressive number of chief conductor positions to his name, including with the Orchestre de Paris and – from the 2027/28 season – the Concertgebouworkest and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He now leads the top-class Vienna Philharmonic, which he himself describes as »one of the very few remaining authentic Mahler orchestras« at the Elbphillharmonie. It is clear that Mahler’s epic and highly emotional Sixth Symphony is in the best of hands with these artists.
