Antonín Dvořák’s Ninth Symphony – »From the New World« – is one of the most popular and frequently performed pieces in the symphonic repertoire. The title refers to America, where the Czech composer wrote the masterpiece – and where he drew inspiration from Native American music, which he combined with the musical language of his home country. Then, crossing the Atlantic and returning home, the Czech Symphony Orchestra Prague undertake a musical journey on the River Vlatva (Moldau) with Bedřich Smetana’s symphonic poem of the same name.
