Two fresh new names: the Italian-born, German violinist Augustin Hadelich and the conductor Gustavo Gimeno, one-time assistant to Mariss Jansons and Claudio Abbado, are guests of the Philharmonic State Orchestra for a performance of Prokofiev’s »Symphonie classique« and Rimsky-Korsakov’s »Scheherazade«.

Four years ago, Gustavo Gimeno was still first percussionist with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam. Since then he has presented such extraordinary and emphatic interpretations of musical works that the public is impatiently awaiting his Hamburg debut.

The 32-year-old Hadelich, graduate of New York’s Juillard School and one of the US’s most successful violinists, first made a name for himself in 2014 with a recording of the Violin Concertos of Sibelius and Adès. After making his debut with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in the 2015/16 season, he now finally comes to Hamburg.
