In 1955 the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra gave the first performance of a trumpet concerto by Bernd Alois Zimmermann. The score is based on the spiritual »Nobody knows de trouble I see« – a sign of solidarity with the oppressed black population of the USA. To celebrate the orchestra’s 75th anniversary, world-class trumpet player Håkan Hardenberger takes up his instrument for the solo part; the Mexican conductor Carlos Miguel Prieto will be on the rostrum. He frames Zimmermann’s glance over the Atlantic with dramatic works from Latin America by Silvestre Revueltas and Alberto Ginastera.
